Is SDR# Frequency Manager free?

Yes. SDR# Frequency Manager is free for personal and non-commercial use. Redistribution is allowed provided the original author is credited. Commercial use is not permitted. The software is provided “as is”, without warranty.

Which operating systems are supported?

Windows 11, Windows 10 and Windows 8. It is a Python application packaged for Windows; no Linux or macOS build is currently provided.

Does it modify my original Frequencies.xml file?

Only when you explicitly save. It is recommended to back up the original file before editing. SDR# Frequency Manager also creates a sidecar .sdrfe file in the same directory to preserve custom fields and category formatting.

What is the .sdrfe file?

It is a sidecar file with the same name as your XML, used to store metadata that the stock SDR# schema does not support (such as title rows used to group frequencies). If you delete or move the sidecar, formatting is lost but the actual frequencies remain in Frequencies.xml.

Can I edit multiple frequencies at once?

Yes. Select the rows you want to change, press Ctrl+B and the Bulk Edit dialog opens. You can change Name, Group, Frequency, Bandwidth, Shift, Detector, the boolean flags and Notes in a single operation.

What happens if I add or delete frequencies from inside SDR#?

SDR# Frequency Manager detects the difference next time you open the file: new frequencies are appended after the last record, deleted frequencies are removed. Your custom formatting is preserved through the .sdrfe sidecar.
